Description

The 1 oz Toro gold coin is the second release of pure gold investment bullions by the Spanish Royal Mint! The Toro (Spanish for “bull”) is one of the most important symbols of Spain, and it represents much more than the common association with bullfighting and bull runs. Instead, it represents the Spanish nation’s brave, courageous and fiery character and its people.

Made of 9999 Fine Gold and featuring a reverse proof finish, these gold coins showcase the advanced craftsmanship and purity standards of the Spanish Royal Mint along with a unique reverse proof finish design. These coins feature the addition of patterned edges in high relief encircling both the obverse and reverse sides of the coin.

The coin’s reverse features a depiction of the distinctive Spanish Bull and the name of the animal in Spanish (Toro), along with the mint’s mark, year of the release and the legal tender face value of the coin of 1.5 Euros.

The obverse features one of the world’s most recognized Spanish imagery regarding currency, and the symbol was featured in the Spanish empire coins circulating throughout the world for centuries. It consists of two globes representing the Western and Eastern hemispheres under a crown between the Pillars of Hercules and the words “PLUS VLTRA” (Further Beyond in Latin).

The Spanish Fighting Bull (Toro Bravo) is a kind of cattle native to the Iberian peninsula. These bulls are bred in free-range, and traits like aggressiveness, stamina, strength, virility, endurance and size are primarily preferred.

The Spanish bulls are usually black or dark brown, with wide horns forming an arch shape. Their weight averages 900 to 1550 lbs (409 to 700 kg). They are a symbol of high importance to the Spanish and Latin American cultures.

These coins have a limited mintage of only 15000 and are likely to achieve a collectible status over the coming years in addition to the precious metal value it holds!
